PANELIST:
Dr. Thomas Singh – Director of the GREEN Institute
Thomas is a Senior Lecturer, Dept. of Economics. He has worked in academia and the public sector and private sectors. His teaching and research have been in the general areas of applied microeconomics and econometrics, with a particular interest in environmental and natural resource economics and management, institutional and behavioural economics; and econometrics. Most recently he has organised the annual green economy workshop series, and was responsible for the establishment of the UG’s GREEN institute. He has a PhD in Economics from the University of Kent (UK), where his dissertation was “To Trust or Not to Trust Others: Norms, Interactions and Institutions”. Thomas is an active member of Guyana’s civil society and also the founding president of the Epilepsy Foundation of Guyana

Mr. Dominic Gaskin – Economics Intern (UGGI)
Mr. Gaskin is a jeweller by profession and has been involved in the design and manufacture of jewellery for approximately four decades. Along with his wife, he operates a jewellery retail store in Georgetown, Guyana. He has been involved in politics in Guyana, through which he has served as both a Member of Parliament and a Cabinet Minister. Dominic is also the author of two novels, The Ashgabat Verdict (2014) and Orinoco (2020). He is currently pursuing a degree in economics at the University of Guyana
